PlayCanvas has released SuperSplat for Blender 0.1.0, an extension that imports SuperSplat scenes into Blender by link and publishes Gaussian splats back to SuperSplat.
The extension requires Blender 5.3 or later, the release that adds native 3D Gaussian splat import and rendering for PLY and SPZ v4 files. Blender 5.3 is still in beta, with release expected on November 10, and PlayCanvas describes 0.1.0 as an early release.
Import accepts a superspl.at scene link or scene ID, but only for scenes whose owners have enabled downloads. A lookup shows the scene's author, license, format and splat count before anything is fetched. For streamed SOG scenes, a Detail setting picks the level of detail, finest by default, and an Environment option brings in the scene's environment as a separate object parented to the scene. Imported scenes arrive upright at the 3D cursor, selected and framed.
SuperSplat for Blender records the scene ID, author and license on every imported object and shows them in an Attribution panel with links to the scene and its license. Credits for every imported scene collect in a SuperSplat Attributions text block.
Publishing exports the selected splat as a standard 3DGS PLY and uploads it as an unlisted scene with an optional title and description. A Convert Axes for SuperSplat option, on by default, applies the object's transform and converts Blender's Z-up to the 3DGS convention, including rotations and spherical harmonics. The spherical harmonics degree can be lowered before upload to shrink the file, and a scene imported through the extension publishes back with its original coordinates. Objects with non-uniform scale, shear or mirroring cannot be published.
Authentication uses a token generated from the API Tokens page of a PlayCanvas account, the same page that issues tokens for SuperSplat's REST publishing API. The extension stores the key in the login Keychain on macOS and in an owner-only file on Windows and Linux, never in Blender preferences, and contacts SuperSplat only when a button is pressed.
The extension installs from a zip through Install from Disk and needs Blender's Allow Online Access setting enabled. SuperSplat for Blender 0.1.0 is available now on GitHub under the MIT license.
