You may have noticed a small change to the website over the weekend. Well, not so small actually.
When I first began writing content in late 2022, the domain was neuralradiancefields.io, mainly because NeRFs were the predominant form of radiance fields at that time. It has been amazing to witness the surge in research and the emergence of new companies since then, expanding at a pace I did not fully anticipate. We've seen companies begin to embrace experimenting with and implementing the technologies and even seen Radiance Fields appear at the top level of popular culture!
With this expansion in mind, I decided late last year to rethink how the website functions and first acquired the domain radiancefields.com. Given the emergence of Gaussian Splatting, it felt misrepresentative to continue writing about it under neuralradiancefields.io, as 3DGS is not a NeRF.
The second step I took was to evaluate how to best structure the homepage. Given the rapid evolution of this industry, I felt it necessary to utilize a platform that would allow me to quickly iterate and pivot if needed.
With all of this in mind, I have migrated the website to Framer. Framer also supports the native integration of Gaussian Splatting onto webpages, but there's more to come on that front.
This move should result in a significant speed boost in page loading, improved filtering on the homepage, and a reintroduction of the Platforms page, which I am very excited about.
Connecting people with platforms that match their needs is hugely important to me. With the reintroduction of the Platforms page, I am trying to make it easier for users to filter for the type of company they are looking for.
Examples include someone who needs a Radiance Field company native to Android, like Kiri Engine, or someone who only wants to focus on Generative Radiance Fields, with companies like CSM, Luma, and Tripo AI. My goal with this revised Platform page is to provide the most complete and centralized list of companies in the space, so that users can connect directly with them. If you are building a company in the space and do not currently see yourself listed here yet, please reach out and I will get you listed onto the site.
In the coming weeks and months, I plan to introduce several features that I hope will be useful to you, whether you're an engineer, working on the corporate side, building a company, or just as excited about the technology as I am. That said, I am truly eager to open the site to contributors. If you're even contemplating writing something, just reach out and say hi!
Showcasing the wide breadth of applicability is paramount to me, and thus I need to ensure that your experience with my site is as enjoyable as possible. I am a team of one, so any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated, however you choose to do it. If it's easier through email, please reach out and I will respond. If LinkedIn is more convenient for you, please reach out there.
I hope you enjoy the updates thus far, and if something is not working, please let me know.
