Gaussian Splats are heading into SolidWorks. Veesus's latest update is bringing gaussian splatting to the powerful platform. Veesus already ships CAD plug-ins for Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, and CloudCompare, with Arena4D adding 3DGS support in early 2025 and then expanded the platform steadily through the year.

The Solidworks plugin allows users to visualize and interact with splat data directly within SolidWorks alongside traditional workflows.

The rest of the update rounds out what looks like a substantial release. Lens flare and dynamic shadows are coming to both point clouds and Gaussian Splats. Additionally, XGRIDS LCC2 support brings compatibility with the Lixel Cyber Color format, XGRIDS's compressed 3DGS standard, designed for large scale outdoor captures. Leica Geosystems LGSx support does similar work on the other end of the market: survey-grade Leica captures, flowing directly into Arena4D without format conversion friction.

The update is available now through Veesus's website.
