Voluma AI is rolling out a sizable update to its browser based 3DGS platform. It now carries native support for XGRIDS LCC files. If you have been following XGRIDS, you know it is XGRIDS’ SLAM-based Gaussian Splatting pipeline with exports in a proprietary .lcc format designed to be smaller and faster to render while still supporting measurement and editing workflows.

Voluma already handled common 3DGS formats like .ply, .splat, .ksplat, and .spz. With .lcc in the mix, teams using XGRIDS capture devices and LCC Studio can now bring scenes directly into Voluma’s web viewer for review, presentation, and collaboration without leaving the browser.  Some features lean into more practical applications. You can upload and link your 3DGS files, mix multiple models in one scene, and even combine them with GLB or glTF assets when you need conventional geometry in the same view. You can place annotations and interactive labels, use styled text or HTML overlays for context, and dial in camera paths, transitions, and field of view for cleaner flythroughs. Reflective water surfaces, image based or procedural skydomes, and shader markers make it easier to match lighting and guide attention. Clipboxes can animate to reveal interiors like a dollhouse opening.

Voluma says the self-serve upload flow for folder or zip ingestion is being reworked for .lcc, but in the meantime their team can manually ingest LCC scenes so early adopters can move forward. For developers, the API makes it possible to automate scene creation, and the iframe embed lets you drop an interactive viewer into your own apps or sites.

For AEC and GIS teams, the combo is practical. XGRIDS LCC focuses on fast, mobile capture and efficient output for big spaces, while Voluma handles browser-first viewing, annotation, and sharing. That pairing removes a lot of friction from field to stakeholder handoffs. Walk and scan with PortalCam or a Lixel device, process in LCC Studio, then publish to a link that anyone can open. Since LCC targets lightweight results with accurate geometry, you get smoother web delivery plus the ability to measure and discuss directly in the viewer.
