Sony Adds S-Log3 Capture and Coordinate System Export to XYN Spatial Scan v1.1.0

Michael Rubloff

Sony has released XYN Spatial Scan v1.1.0, which adds S-Log3 capture as a source for gaussian splatting generation. The Venus H generation algorithm now accepts images shot in S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine, and those images must be imported in HEIF. Venus H is the higher detail of the two generation algorithms Sony has offered since June 1, 2026, and on roughly 100 images it takes slightly longer than Venus and produces a larger file.
XYN Spatial Scan v1.1.0 also adds a coordinate system choice at export, LUF (Y-up) or RDF (Y-down). A studio moving XYN output into a Y-down toolchain no longer needs to reorient the asset after export. The output format is unchanged, with PLY. Sony does not use the term gaussian splatting anywhere on its XYN pages, but rather 3DCG. disguise added XYN support to its virtual production platform in April, and describes the underlying method as a "3D Gaussian Splatting-based rendering algorithm". The disguise documentation lists Unreal Engine 5.4, 5.5 and 5.6 as the supported versions for the XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin, with RenderStream carrying output to the LED wall.
XYN Spatial Scan Navi 1.1.0 updates the smartphone application that pairs a mirrorless camera to the XYN spatial capture solution, adding support for the Alpha 7R VI, FX2, and FX3 / FX3A, and the FX3 requires manual focus adjustment. Navi 1.1.0 also adds Virtual Production Capture Presets in beta, named Studio 3-Face Wide and Full Circle, for capturing larger spaces, and a capture mode selector offering sRGB by default or S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3.
Model preview in XYN Spatial Scan now visualizes the positions of the cameras used during generation. The release also reports faster image upload, reduced load times when previewing generated models, an onboarding tutorial, a review view for uploaded image information, project renaming, and project sorting and filtering.
Sony publishes no pricing for XYN Spatial Scan. XYN Spatial Scan remains limited to corporate customers with accounts, and the license is metered by execution count, with the number of remaining executions shown at the bottom of the generation screen. Access is by inquiry through Sony.
