AS Formworks has released Splat Stage 0.4.3 Beta, a paid Blender add-on that crops, grades and caches existing gaussian splatting captures.
Splat Stage requires Blender 5.3, which adds native gaussian splat import and rendering for PLY and SPZ files and is still in beta behind the 5.2.3 LTS stable release. SplatGen and Gaussian Splat Patch also target the 5.3 pre-release builds. Splat Stage does not generate, train or export splats.
The add-on is organized as a Prepare, Look and Render workflow. Crops are a box or ellipsoid that keeps or removes its inside, plus up to eight subtractive cutouts. The source splat data stays intact. Smooth Preview drops the viewport to Blender's 2 px or 4 px pixel size so navigation keeps the chosen point density at the cost of a softer image.
The Look stage adjusts exposure, approximate RGB white balance, tint, contrast and saturation on the scan independently of actor materials. A bounded fog volume carries density, height falloff and soft edges, with Haze, Ground and Shafts presets and an optional Sun that lights volumes and ordinary geometry. Captured lighting and shadows stay baked into the scan. Rendering offers EEVEE and Cycles quality profiles.
Shot Cache bakes the scan and world at 100% density into scene linear EXR plates and links editable mesh actors in a separate scene. A fixed camera uses one plate and a moving camera uses one plate per baked frame. On a synthetic cafe scene at 1440×960 in EEVEE with 128 samples, AS Formworks reports three warmed renders averaging 0.675 s native and 0.317 s cached, "2.13× for this shot," after a 1.281 s initial bake. The cache does not reproduce live shadows or reflections between scan and actors, or depth and AOV passes, and fog bypasses it.
AS Formworks has tested Splat Stage only on Windows with the Blender 5.3.0 Beta and an RTX 4060 Ti and warns that native APIs may change between beta builds. The add-on code and demo scene are licensed GPL-3.0-or-later.
Splat Stage 0.4.3 Beta is available now on Superhive for $39, currently discounted to $19.50.
