LCC Studio V2.2 XGRIDS

XGRIDS has released LCC Studio V2.2.0, which makes drone RTK data optional for aerial reconstruction and aerial-ground fusion. This announcement comes directly on the heels of XGRIDS stating that Original Images, Invalid Mask (Original Images), Camera Extrinsic and Intrinsic Parameters (Original), Optimized Laser Point Cloud, Device Poses, Undistorted Images, Invalid Mask (Undistorted Images), and Camera Extrinsic and Intrinsic Parameters (Undistorted Images) from their devices will be made available in August.

The drone RTK data toggle is on by default, and the reconstruction carries absolute coordinates. Switched off, the drone RTK log is ignored completely and LCC Studio falls back to pure visual SfM, producing a model with no absolute coordinates, which cannot be exported to GIS platforms for geographic positioning. When the drone carries no RTK at all, LCC Studio turns the toggle off on its own, and XGRIDS then recommends forward overlap of at least 80 percent, side overlap of at least 70 percent, and grid or orbit flight paths.

XGRIDS recommends an L series RTK scanner with an RTK drone for the highest accuracy, and a P series ground capture with aerial-ground fusion control points with an RTK drone or without one, a pairing XGRIDS says "lowers the drone hardware barrier, supports consumer-grade drones". The combination XGRIDS marks as not recommended is an L series RTK ground capture with a drone lacking RTK, which it warns may cause reconstruction failure or layer separation.

Aerial input for both paths runs 100 to 10,000 images in JPG or JPEG only, above 1024x768, with every image at an identical resolution. Aerial-ground fusion caps ground data at 10 segments and 200 minutes in total. Aerial reconstruction had already reached the 10,000 photo ceiling, and that limit is unchanged.

Image sequence reconstruction is the other addition, turning a folder of 50 to 1,000 stills into a gaussian splatting reconstruction. The path accepts JPG, JPEG and PNG at up to 4090 pixels per side, rejects TIFF, BMP and RAW, and blocks reconstruction with a red prompt unless every image shares one resolution. Video reconstruction arrived in V2.0.0 taking mp4, mov and webm up to roughly 16 minutes at 720 to 3840 pixels per side, so loose imagery previously had to be assembled into a video first.

The release notes also states device side HD enhancement photo upload for holders of cloud edition permissions. Error log upload now sits in the model card right-click menu for both reconstructing and generated models.

It is available now through the XGRIDS website.
