Splatara is a radiance field company based in Paris, France. Its main product, SplataraScan, captures, trains and edits gaussian splats on a Meta Quest headset, with no desktop machine anywhere in the loop.
The company started from the viewer side. Splatara shipped a run of updates to its Quest app in December 2025, released a production suite in January 2026, and put SplataraScan on SideQuest in April, which moved distribution off sideloading and onto a store listing.
Training now runs on FastGS natively rather than through an external trainer, which brings reconstruction inside the app instead of handing frames off. A one-click pipeline built on Depth Anything 3 produces a scene from a capture without the user selecting a reconstruction mode. SAM 3 handles automatic masking, so moving subjects and unwanted foreground objects are segmented out before optimization rather than deleted afterwards in an editor.
SplataraScan has since become an editor as well as a capture tool. Splats can be edited on the headset directly, and finished scenes export to SOG, which brings the output into the same compressed format that SuperSplat, PlayCanvas and the wider web viewer ecosystem read. Peer to peer multiplayer lets several Quest headsets occupy the same captured scene at once without a hosted server between them.
A browser side companion, the Splatara Project Viewer, handles review and distribution once a capture leaves the headset. It presents a scan project for viewing, annotation and sharing rather than for editing, and its format list runs wider than the headset app's, covering .splatara, .rad, .sog, .spz, .zip, .ply, .splat, .glb and .gltf. The .splatara extension is the company's own project container. Reading .rad puts Splatara among the small set of viewers outside World Labs that open Spark's chunked container. The viewer is a three.js application that moves scene data between participants over WebRTC, so a review session runs without a hosted server in the middle, and the crop tool is reserved to the session host. Quality runs through three presets and WebXR entry is exposed with smooth locomotion.
