XGRIDS Adds a Gaussian Splat Format Converter to LCC Studio V2.3.0

Michael Rubloff

XGRIDS has posted LCC Studio V2.3.0, a Windows build that adds a Converter for moving 3D Gaussian splat data between formats. 3D Tiles export arrived in V2.0.0 alongside the .lcc2 container, carrying a v2 SPZ v2 option that loads directly in Cesium 1.35 and later, and USD export arrived a month before that in V1.13.1.
XGRIDS open sourced the LCC file format with a public spec and developer docs. The rest of LCC Studio V2.3.0 is corrective. Preliminary validation for drone RTK data has been reworked, floating artifacts in some Aerial-Ground Map Fusion and Aerial Reconstruction scenarios are fixed, and so are large scene tiling issues and wording in the Japanese installation package.
LCC Scene Editor V2.3.0 adds a Mini-Map that the application generates automatically from valid 3D Layout data in the scene. A scene carrying a 3D Layout can switch between Floor Plan and Scene Overview modes, and a scene without one shows Scene Overview alone.
Scene Editor V2.3.0 also builds roaming viewpoints and camera routes without manual authoring. Operators select POV viewpoints and place markers in LixelGO or LCC Scan, and once reconstruction completes the editor generates the viewpoints and the routes from that marker data. K1 and L2 Pro devices do not support the feature.
LCC Model Editor V1.2.0 adds a Mip Filter that automatically matches a rendering mode to reduce flicker and jagged edges while preserving model detail, and it covers third party PLY as well as LCC2. Scene Editor V2.2.0 had exposed Mip Filter configuration under a new Rendering section of its settings panel in July.
Model Editor V1.2.0 also adds an Align tool, which takes three points on a model surface as a reference plane and aligns the model to the grid, and Perspective and Orthographic projection for browsing and orthographic inspection. The first Model Editor build, 1.0.72, shipped in June with transforms, selectors, clone, separate, delete and color adjustment.
LCC Studio V2.3.0 is a 6.0 GB iso, Scene Editor V2.3.0 a 1.1 GB installer, and Model Editor V1.2.0 an 86.5 MB installer. All three are available now through the XGRIDS website.
